In light of the recent loss of our beloved friend and comrade, Major Ironman, the USSOCOM command staff has saw it fit to promoted him to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. This was done to show our respects to the service he provide to this unit, his family and his country.
Ironman is also being awarded posthumously the Congresional Medal Of Honor. This is the highest award in USSOCOM and is the first time it has ever been presented. It was done to again show our respects to a person that was both loved and respected by his family and freind as well as his comrades here in the unit.
We hope that these things are befitting of a great man who was taken from us far to soon.
RIP Lieutenant Colonel Ironman |

It is with great sadness that we regret to inform you that our dear and beloved friend Major Ironman has passed away. On 30th June 2010 Major Ironman lost his battle with cancer after over a year of fighting the disease.
Major Ironman was one of the first members of the unit joining on 1st August 2008. From that point he served with distinction quickly rising to become Alpha Troop: Cobras Executive Officer and then served as Alpha Squadron Commanding Officer. He was an incredibly friendly and approachable man who's door was always open to anybody whether it be for professional or personal discussion.
Major Ironman's heart however was with tanks; this was largely due to his prior service as a tanker and Sergeant in the 3rd Brigade, 1st Armoured Division during the 1st Gulf War. He was extremely looking forward to joining our armoured unit; however computer issues meant that he unfortunately never had the chance.
He leaves behind his wife and two daughters whom all our thoughts are with in this incredibly difficult time for them. Anybody who wishes to send flowers or other gifts should contact General Beckwith for details.
Rest In Peace Ironman Salute |

The partnered response resulted from a tip by an Afghan citizen to the Shin Kay district governor. The district governor then contacted Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army, and members of a U.S. Special Operations team to coordinate a safe removal. “In the past four months, seven of the eight IEDs located and destroyed in Shin Kay were a direct result of tips from Afghan citizens,” said a U.S. Special Forces team sergeant involved with the partnered response. “This emerging trend of people rejecting insurgent activity in the area and calling in IED tips is win-win for everyone in the district.” Once the partnered force arrived at the site, the district governor, ANP, and ANA began searching the area with mine detectors and located two pressure-plate IEDs at a dip in the road. | |
